Tavern Brawl is easily one of my favourite modes in Blizzard’s Hearthstone. It’s arguably what got me horribly addicted to the card game in the first place! This week’s brawl, ‘Top 2’, is particularly interesting. Here’s its premise…
The Innkeeper is wondering which two cards work best together. Show him – choose 2 cards and we’ll fill your deck with them!
Initially, I thought it was a bit dumb. I mean, two cards? How on earth does one build a successful deck with such limitations?
As it turns out, there are many, many excellent combos just waiting to be used! Here’re just a few examples of what I’ve made or encountered myself thus far…
Deadly Sap Rogue
This deck for Rogue is quite basic. Equip a weapon, and don’t attack with it until it’s had a few deadly poisons thrown at it (preferably to 15 attack if possible). If the enemy plays any creeps, just sap them back to their hand!
This is the first deck I made for this Tavern Brawl. It won me two games in a row, until…
Yeah, my Rogue deck did absolutely nothing against this annoying Mage one. I could never move, and there was never anything to sap!
The combo here is pretty straight forward. Throw a frostbolt at an enemy, followed by a barrage of ice lances for maximum damage. If all goes well, you should be able to destroy the enemy before they do the same to you. The only downside to this deck is that a hand can deplete very quickly.
Quick Draw Druid
When my opponent began innervating and throwing down Coldlight Oracles, I laughed. “Thank you” I said, around four times in a row before I realised what was happening.
