It has been far, far too long since I last played the excellent ninja in space simulator, Warframe. The last time I did in fact, was back when the Archwing upgrade first made its way into the game. That was over two years ago!
The third-person shooter/slicer has grown significantly over that period I’m sure, meaning I’ll have no idea what the hell is going on should I ever go back to playing it. That won’t happen though, at least not anytime soon. Look, I do really miss Warframe, but I just don’t have the time for its huge grind, at least not at this stage in my life.
If you on the other hand, have all the time in the world, and continue to play the game religiously, you’ll be happy to know that Digital Extremes have just released additional content compliments of The War Within update (via PC Gamer). The new patch contains a quest, additional enemies, extra weapons, and more!
The Grineer Empire grows stronger as friend become foe. What secrets does the Grineer Empire keep? Underpowered, unprepared and forced out of your comfort, you must find it in you must find it in yourself to overcome new foes to save yourself. The Queens’ Fortress awaits, where both Warframe and Operator will be pushed past their limits as they slowly unravel mysteries about the Tenno’s past and their true capabilities.
The Kuva Fortress hosts the most advanced Grineer fortifications to date. Strangely intricate elements of red and black are displayed proudly throughout the Fortress… décor far more ornate than other Grineer locations. The Fortress is heavily guarded with new and dangerous foes. Watch your step, Tenno.
When I stopped playing Warframe, Digital Extremes had only just gone about stitching the story together in a more cinematic, logical fashion. I’m happy to see that in the past two years, they’ve fleshed out the narrative even more.
Writing about this update (and watching the new War Within trailer) has given me major fomo, truth be told. Maybe I should redownload Warframe, and see exactly how it’s changed. I’ll have all the time in the world to do just that over the December break, right?
