World of Warcraft Legion’s first content patch has arrived, and we’re barely done with the original content. No bother, it just means instead of spending eight hours a day playing, you might have to double it. The Emerald Nightmare is all but defeated, and while players are readying themselves to take on the Nighthold, an interstitial phase is now in place where you carry on with the story in both Dalaran and Stormheim. Two major content additions were made in 7.1, namely: Return to Karazhan (mega-dungeon) and Trials of Valor (mini-raid).
Return to Karazhan
From the moment of its mysterious creation, the purpose of this dark tower has been intertwined with the history of the Guardians of Tirisfal, once Azeroth’s greatest bulwark against the Legion. It is now best known as the home of Medivh, who tragically betrayed Azeroth and brought the unbroken chain of Guardians to an end. This legacy makes Karazhan a place of particular interest for the Legion, who have descended in full force in an effort to open a new front in their war on the denizens of Azeroth.
Players will recall Karazhan from the Burning Crusade where the Raid instance took 30 players throughout Medivh’s tower to defeat the bosses at hand. This time around, only five players are needed in this mega-dungeon, and that’s five players for nine bosses. You might also recall Karazhan from the Warcraft Movie where Medivh is finally defeated and remains “The Last Guardian.” The reason we are returning to Karazhan is because this is where the Burning Legion were originally invited by Medivh himself, who betrayed Azeroth.
